About
I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA. My initiation into the modeling hobby came as a kid using allowance money to buy Aurora monster kits. My early technique could best be described as heavy on the Testor’s glue and gloss paints!
I received an under graduate degree in Art Education and a Masters Degree in Painting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am an abstract painter and have exhibited in numerous exhibitions and juried art shows. I am a retired art teacher and spent my entire career of 39 years in the Carlisle Area School District (central Pennsylvania). I worked with students in every grade from first to tenth, but the majority of my career was at the middle level (6-8).
After many years away from the hobby, I was introduced to garage kits in the mid-nineties. Painting on resin began to consume more of my free time than painting on canvas. I also started entering build-ups at local, regional, and national shows.
I was asked to write “how to” articles for Modeler’s Resource magazine in 2003. Later, I became a staff writer for Kitbuilder’s magazine and have contributed to Amazing Figure Modeler magazine. In recent years I have conducted painting classes and presented seminars at Wonderfest and Jerseyfest.
